Shirakawa-go
Nestled in a pictureque valley lie Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, most notably the Ogimachi village. The main attraction are the magical thatched roof houses, built in the gassho-zukuri style (or prayer-hands style). Today, this style of construction is extremely rare, and found prominently only in Shirakawa-go and Gokayama.
